Child Find

Child Find is a process used by schools to identify, locate, and evaluate children who may need additional support or special education services. This includes children who may be struggling academically, socially, or behaviorally—even if they have not yet been formally identified.

If a parent or teacher has concerns about a child’s development or learning, Child Find helps begin the process of gathering information and determining what support may be needed. This can lead to evaluations, services, or other supports to help the child succeed.

The goal of Child Find is early identification and support, so children can receive the help they need as soon as possible.
